The late National Council of Elders chair Phares Rutere will be buried on Saturday (June 5) at his BBC home in Maili Saba.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are among the top dignitaries expected at the send-off ceremony.
The former Secretary General of Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders died at Nairobi hospital last Wednesday where he had been admitted for more than a week with Covid-19 related complications.
The late has been mourned as a lover of peace who strived to see people in and out of Isiolo and Meru Counties where he mostly resided stay united.
Mzee Rutere will be remembered for his continued push to have country’s top leadership unite and work together for realization of development in the country.
He was so passionate in agitating for elders rights and support to the elderly.
