A Primary School in Meru County is on the spot for sending home a Class Seven pupil over allegations of being possessed by demons which are said to have caused suffering to fellow learners.
The boy, a pupil at St Agnes Marega Primary School in Tigania Central said to be owned by a former MP in Meru was accused of causing stomach aches to his colleagues by only staring at them.
The incident that happened on May 23, 2021 has left the learner’s family distraught seeking proper explanations from the school’s management.
The boy said that his class teacher in company of other colleagues approached him asking whether he was aware that some of his fellow pupils were unwell before conducting an exorcism exercise on him for close to one hour.
The school head teacher Mr Lawrence Okwar called the mother at around 7pm and ordered her to go and pick the son from school.
According to the mother, no clear explanation was made as to why they had expelled the son, saying that the school administrator refused to allow her to pick the pupil the following day as she was away from home when she was informed of the incident.
Sub-County education official advised the parent to seek admission for the son in another school.
