A class seven pupil from Khorof Harar Primary School has been shot dead in a suspected Al-shabaab attack in Wajir.

Police reports indicate that an unknown number of the militia group attacked the home to a National Police Reservist (NPR) officer at Wajir-East Sub-County on Tuesday morning.

Not finding the officer, they started shooting aimlessly killing the officer’s 15-year-old son.

The officer Noor Jibril said he was out on an official duty guarding a nearby hospital when he and his colleagues heard gunshots and on rushing to the scene, found his son’s lifeless body lying on the ground.

Contingency of officers has been deployed to the area as investigations into the incident continue. Manhunt for the attackers is underway.

The killing comes barely a week after five police officers were attacked by a suspected militia group at Banisa along Mandera-Somali border while on a patrol mission.

The ambush took place at around 6 AM on Friday last week leaving the militia team members with serious injuries.
