Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi has urged residents who have received text messages on disbursement of Huduma Cards to collect them decrying low number of those turning up to pick the documents.
Huduma Card, which was introduced in 2019, is aimed at consolidating all services in one card for easy access of government services by citizens.
Mr Shambi said out of 12, 673 cards that the county had received, only 7, 811 cards had been collected as of May 19, 2021.
“Some 4862 Huduma cards are lying idle and our people should go pick them,” Mr Shambi said.
Residents who have moved from their previous location and received the text message can freely change the area of delivery and will be notified once the cards arrive there.
The adminstrator asked residents who could have lost their phones or changed the numbers they used for the registration to liaise with chiefs and their assistants to know whether their cards are out.
“There is a list of names of those whose cards are ready at the chiefs offices and residents should go and confirm their details in case they lost their phones,” he said.
Completion of the disbursement exercise will pave way for the second phase of registration of those who were left out in the first phase.
