More than 3000 needy Muslim families in Isiolo will benefit from foodstuff donations by a group of well-wishers meant to cushion them during the Ramadhan celebrations.
Ramadhan that is characterized by fasting, prayer and almsgiving has already begun with residents urged to strictly adhere to Covid-19 rules to prevent spread especially at worship places.
Isiolo County Secretary Ahmed Galgalo, while flagging off the donations that include maize and wheat flour, sugar and beans in Isiolo town, urged residents to share the little they have with the less fortunate.
“I would like to urge all Muslims to look into the welfare of the needy in the society. It is our period of sharing the little we have with those without,” he noted.
Governor Mohammed Kuti gave out several lorries for transporting the food to the far-flung areas in the county.
“The food will cushion residents against the effects of the drought that has led to poor crop and livestock production,” said Dr Galgalo.
