Three Covid-19 patients, who were on supplementary oxygen, succumbed at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital due to an oxygen outage from the facility’s plant.
Officials said the last weekend’s deaths occurred after the oxygen plant developed technical hitches, that lasted for some hours, which resulted in insufficient production of the gas.
The oxygen plant is inundated by increasing demand occasioned by soaring cases of infections in the county.
Sources revealed to thepresspoint.com that more than 70 Covid-19 patients were on supplementary oxygen and that nearly five were in the Intensive Care Unit.
The county has recorded more than 200 deaths since March last year when Kenya reported her first case with the total infections more than 7000.
Covid-19 has killed two senior county government officials: the Deputy Director of Political Affairs Wilfred Chebochok and County Public Health Chief Officer Samuel King’ori who died in March this year.
The increased infections has seen the Lee Kinyanjui government scale down operations at the county offices for one month.
