The Komarock Modern Health Care Hospital has opened its fourth branch in Chuka town in Tharaka Nithi County. Three others are in Kathwana Municipality, Utawala and Komarock estates in Nairobi.
While opening its doors yesterday, the hospital held a free medical camp and treated over 400 patients as a way of welcoming the residents at the facility located in a newly constructed ultra-modern building few meters from Kenya Power offices along the Meru-Nairobi Highway.
The new branch comes barely two years after the opening of the Kathwana branch which is the biggest private hospital in Mt Kenya region with a bed capacity of 180, an intensive care unit, high dependency unit with eight beds and a renal unit equipped with four modern machines that can handle 24 patients daily.
Speaking during the free medical camp, Mr Moses Wakuloba, the hospital administrator said the Chuka branch is currently offering outpatient services but will be referring those requiring inpatient services at Kathwana branch before it starts admitting.
He said the branch will however have all specialists’ consultants and assured the residents of the best health services.
“Today we have decided to offer free medical services as we welcome our people to the new Chuka branch which is a full hospital just like that in Kathwana, Utawala and Komarock,” said Mr Wakuloba.
He said the larger plan of the hospital management is to take quality services as closer to the people as possible and that could only be achieved by opening more branches.
Mr Francis Kamwara another hospital administrator said the facility’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nyamu Kamwara, who hails from Tharaka Constituency targets to reduce deaths and suffering of the residents by availing specialist treatment at an affordable price.
He said having been born and brought up in the region, Dr Nyamu also has the responsibility of giving back to his people by taking care of their health.
“The money charged in Kathwana and Chuka branches is very little compared to our city hospitals because the main target is helping our people and not accumulating wealth,” said Mr Kamwara.
He said both the patients with medical insurance cover including NHIF, AON among others and those paying cash are served with equal dignity.
People who benefited from the free medical camp lauded the hospital’s management for the huge support.
