Several weeks after Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was blocked by rowdy youths while heading to Talai Elders Council official Christopher Koyogi’s home in Kapsisiywa, Mr Moi was finally coronated and made the Rift Valley kingpin.
In a coronation similar to that of his father Daniel Moi, who was the President from 1978 to 2002, the KANU leader was adorned with sacred traditional leadership regalia that include three-legged stool (Ngecheret), leadership stick, shield made from lion’s skin (Sambut) and club (Rungut) among others.
The coronation was done by a splinter group of Talai Council of Elders led by Vice-Chair Koyogi and Talai/Kapturgat Chair Rono Joel who dismissed the coronation of Deputy President William Ruto early this week and gave Mr Moi a baton to contest for Presidency.
Dr Ruto was earlier coronated by Myoot Kalenjin Council of Elders Chair James Bassy in a dawn ceremony at his home.
