Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi has been impeached after the Senate found him guilty of gross violation of the rule of law.

Of the 31 legislators who took part in the voting, 25 supported the ouster while four abstained and two opposed removal of Mr Mohammud, who faced 17 allegations, from office.

A Senate Special committee established that the county boss violated the rights of Wajir people for failing to provide them with quality health care and suggested his removal from office.

The Governor had sought mercy from the Senators saying his adminstration was committed to improving the health care in the county.

The Governor becomes the third to be impeached after Ferdinand Waititu and Mike Sonko of Kiambu and Nairobi counties.
