University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama risks being jailed for introducing changes in the institution’s governance without consulting other crucial stakeholders.
The University in a memo dated July 14 introduced some reforms announced by the don and UoN Council Chair Julia Ojiambo.
The court had earlier ordered the don to stop the changes but he disobeyed.
The Employment and Labour Relations Court on Friday ruled that the VC failed to adhere to orders requiring him to suspend the changes and found him culpable of contempt.
Judge Maureen Onyango ordered Prof Kiama to appear before the court on January 22 next year for sentencing for blatantly defying the court orders.
He risks six months in jail.
