Two people were killed and 300 goats stolen when suspected bandits from Samburu and Wajir attacked two villages in Merti Sub-County last evening.
Isiolo County Commissioner Mr Geoffrey Omoding said suspected Samburu militia attacked Yachis village killing one person and injuring another before walking away with the goats.
Another person was shot dead in Urura village when bandits suspected to have come from neighboring Wajir County raided the area.
The administrator said police officers had been deployed to beef up security and calm down the situation in the area.
“All exit roads have been blocked to ensure we manage to arrest all the criminals,” said Mr Omoding while sending a stern warning to young men who might be involved in killings that continue to wreak havoc in the county.
He said time had come for the Samburu young men popularly known as morans to surrender all illegal firearms in their possession or allow the security forces to take the next cause of action.
“Anyone with an illegal firearm is a criminal,” he said, adding “Morans must give up on their retrogressive culture of moranism or they perish.”
Mr Omoding cited numerous challenges hindering efforts to deal with insecurity at the remote areas including network connection problems that were making it hard for residents to report crime incidences for police action.
“We call upon network service providers to install masts in the area for quick response to insecurity cases,” said Mr Omoding.
The security agencies are investigating the root cause of the ongoing attacks that have led to the loss of more than 40 people in Isiolo since the beginning of the year.
The attacks have on several occasions been suspected to be politically instigated, with the County’s security head warning that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
“We are investigating politicians who might be involved in the attacks and anyone found guilty, will face the law,” he maintained.
