Detectives in Thika, Kiambu have launched investigations into the death of a police officer attached to Deputy President William Ruto’s security squad.
Costable Samuel Ngatia of the elite presidential escort died under unclear circumstances at his home in Juja on Monday morning.
The sleuths are seeking to establish whether the officer killed himself or someone else did and if so, find out the motive behind the killing.
Mr Ngatia was alone in the house within the General Service Unit Recce squad camp on Kenyatta road during the time of the incident, reports indicate.
Police , in a report made at Hays police post, say the officer died after shooting himself in the head.
A Jericho pistol loaded with 13 bullets, another rifle and two spent cartridges’ and one bullet head were recovered from the house.
