Former Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa has promised to lobby for state appointments for county residents if elected as the Senator in 2022 general elections.
Mr Ragwa said his focus as the Senator will be on uniting the county leaders and lobbying for appointments and key projects such as tarmacking of roads and irrigation projects.
The incumbent Senator Kithure Kindiki has already announced that he will not be defending the seat and is said to be angling for Gubernatorial seat though he has not made his intentions public.
Lack of unity among the leaders, Mr Ragwa said, was to blame for the few appointments and projects in the region.
“My focus will be on uniting the county leaders so that we can solidly claim a share of state jobs,” Mr Ragwa said in Maara recently.
He exuded confidence that he will beat Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, who has also expressed interest in the Senatorial seat, pants down in the coming polls.
Mr Ragwa said he will not antagonize any incumbent leader until the election time nears.
Chuka University Vice Chancellor Erastus Njoka, Machakos County Assembly Clerk Gitari Mbiuki and National Museums Director Mzalendo Kibunjia have also announced their interest to unseat Governor Njuki in 2022.
