The slain window of Kiiru Boys High School Principal has been jailed to 30 years over the murder of her husband Solomon Mbuthi.
Ms Jane Muthoni and her co-accused Isaac Ng’ang’a alias Gikuyu who has also been slammed with the same jail term, took part in the killing of Mr Mbuthi that happened between November 4 and November 11, 2016 in Kiambu County.
The two were convicted on April 22, with Ms Muthoni maintaining that her husband had been killed by his colleagues who were unhappy with his transfer and her promotion to head Icaciri Secondary School.
Justice Joel Ngugi of Nakuru High Court said the circumstances under which the murder was conducted called for serious punishment that could send a strong warning to the society.
The court also noted that Ms Muthoni had worked tirelessly to have her husband killed and that she tried several times.
The sentences are to run from November 2016 for Ms Muthoni and from December the same year for the co-accused.
