Fresh details have emerged over the recent plane crash at Maili Nane along Meru-Isiolo road whose pilot and passenger escaped unhurt.

The light aircraft with Franco Paglien and Allen Biege on board was heading to Lewa Conservancy headquarters from Isiolo when the accident occurred.

Police now say the plane registration No 5Y-VBB that crashed while the pilot tried to land on the tarmac had mechanical issues.

Police in Meru say an oncoming lorry prevented the pilot from landing on the road and while he tried avoiding it, the plane swerved off the road and landed into a ditch by the roadside.
