A boy who reported to Meru School with an empty box has finally been admitted to the school after police officers in the county chipped and contributed Sh88, 000 to cater for his fees.
Anthony Musembi scored 395 marks in 2021 KCPE and got an admission to the school.
On learning of his plight, the County Police boss mobilized his officers to contribute towards assisting the boy.
About Sh200, 000 in total was raised by both Meru County police officers and other well-wishers.
Their counterparts in Machakos also assisted Simon Muthama Nzioki who scored 403 marks and got an admission to Machakos Boys.
Simon reported to school for his admission May 4 without school fees and personal effects as indicated in his admission letter.
While standing pensively at the admission desk not knowing what to do, he caught the attention of the OCS Machakos who had gone to admit a form one student.
After a brief conversation, the OCS established that the boy had been accompanied by his aged grandfather who wasn’t in a position to raise money for his school fees and other school requirements. His unemployed mother, a single parent, could not support him either.
The County Police Commander Machakos, Mr Issa Mohamud was touched by the plight of the boy when he was briefed by the OCS.
He mobilized his NPS team and friends and they were able to raise Ksh 202,000 for his school fees.
The Police boss and his team handed over a bank slip of fees paid totaling to the amount contributed and promised to offer him more support as he progresses with studies.
The National Police Service praised the officers for the noble course.
