One person has died and nine others hospitalized at Nyahururu Referral Hospital in Laikipia after consuming contaminated liquor suspected to be contaminated at a local pub.
Police reports indicate that five of the men were spotted lying unconscious near a petrol station in Nyahururu town before police officers rushed them to the hospital.
Minutes later five other men were brought to the same facility in an unconscious state with one of them dying on arrival.
It is suspected that the group had taken contaminated liquor at a local pub during a birthday party on Sunday morning.
Medical officers at the facility said they were to confirm the type of chemical present in the liquor and the amount consumed by the victims after conducting blood tests.
They however urged members of the public who might have consumed the alcoholic drinks to visit the nearest health facilities as investigations into the matter continue.
