Isiolo County Education office has appealed to the County Government and Isiolo North MP Hassan Odha to intervene and rid Kambi Odha Primary eviction from a land owned by a group of 30 women from the area who have been demanding compensation.
The school that rests on a two-acre land with more than 250 learners risks closure over the stalemate. The group temporarily donated the land more than eight years ago.
County Director of Education Dr Hussein Koriyow said he had written to the County Government and MP Odha to help resolve the dispute either by compensating the group or helping the school purchase land elsewhere.
“I have requested the officials to intervene and help the school acquire land,” said Dr Koriyow.
The press point is reliably informed that the group had made a temporary agreement with the school to settle at the land provisionally but years later the institution has not been shifted.
The group had initially built a social hall with the help of the then area MP Mohammed Kuti that was meant to help them earn a living but has since then been converted into a classroom.
Sources intimated to Press Point that negotiations between the county government and the group had started but did not reveal the progress.
