Nicholas Kunga Ngece alias ‘Ngece wa mariiko’ has vowed to battle-it-out with former Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Mbae Ragwa for the senatorial seat in 2022.

Dr Ngece from Chuka unsuccessfully contested for Chuka Igambang’ombe MP seat with PNU party ticket in 2017.

Before settling for the MP position, Mr Ngece who currently works with Embu County Government as a chief officer had expressed interest in the gubernatorial position.

Speaking to the Press Point, Dr Ngece said he will soon make public his 2022 political aspirations and that he had the confidence of beating Ragwa hands down.

“Mr Ragwa is not alone in the senatorial seat because I will also seek the same position in 2022,” said Mr Ngece who carries the slogan ‘Muntu ni Ngece’ (Ngece is the man).

On Saturday during the burial of Mr Ragwa’s wife, Lucy Njeri Mbae, leaders including Senator Prof Abraham Kithure Kindiki announced that he will support the ex-governor for the senatorial position.

Maara MP Mr Japhet Kareke Mbiuki — who had shown interest in battle Ragwa announced that he had withdrawn and that he will support the former governor.

Tycoon businessman and politician Kiambi Matanka, who unsuccessfully battle Prof Kindiki in 2017 also said that he has no political ambitions in 2022 and that he will support Ragwa.

With the support of all the county’s top politicians, it is going to be an uphill task for Dr Ngece.
