More than 30 people who were in the Mwingi bus that plunged into River Enziu while heading to a wedding are yet to be rescued.
At least 10 people had been rescued and taken to Mwingi Level Four Hospital and 23 bodies recovered by Saturday night.
Reports indicate that school bus with a capacity of 51 passengers had more than 10 excess passengers when the accident occurred.
Fresh details indicate that more than 10 fatalities were family members whose parents were to solemnize their marriage.
The bus was ferrying a group of St Cecilia Mwingi Catholic Church choir members from Mwingi town to Nuu to attend the wedding celebration when it was swept away by the swollen River Enziu.
Rescue efforts by Kenya Navy and professional divers will resume today (Sunday).
