Minority tribes living in Isiolo have decried neglect by the county government despite being recognized constitutionally, residing in the county and participating in elections.
Addressing journalists in Isiolo town, the group officials said Governor Mohamed Kuti’s administration had sidelined them in resource allocation forcing them to educate their children through fundraisers.
The group’s Organizing Secretary Mr Moses Obiero said it was disheartening that despite seeking assistance from the leaders, no one recognized them or assisted them sort problems facing their member tribes.
“We will not continue voting for them while they do not seem concerned about the issues affecting us,” said Mr Obiero.
His sentiments were echoed by the group Treasurer Ms Sarah Muthoni hit out at local elected leaders for snubbing their recent fundraiser to support 15 needy learners join Universities.
Ms Muthoni said in spite of serving all the leaders with invitation letters, only Isiolo Woman Representative Ms Rehema Jaldesa and Nominated Senator Abshiro Halake turned up for the event preventing them from achieving their Sh6 million target.
“We have been left out, demeaned and disrespected and we are not going to support anyone who has neglected us during the 2022 elections. Whoever has supported us will have our support,” she said.
The group’s Chairperson Jackson Kengele said they had also been sidelined on employment and had nothing to show for the overwhelming support they gave to the incumbent leaders.
“This time we are united and anyone thinking they will approach individual communities to support them is wrong because we are now working as a united team,” Mr Kengele said.
