Parents have been urged to instill good morals and be role models to their children while they are at home for the holidays.
A section of education stakeholders in Meru County lamented that many learners are involved in indiscipline cases when they report back to school due to lack of serious and proper guidance and monitoring by the guardians and parents at home.
Tigania East Sub-County Education Director Mr Yattani Dabasosaru said it was every parent’s responsibility to inculcate good morals to their children.
“Talk to them while they are at home and educate them on the importance of education. When they come to school they will not be a bother to the teachers,” he said.
Mr Dabasosaru warned parents against politicising education matters noting that there are few parents who were after ruining the reputation of the schools.
“Once you get into the learning institution leave all your political opinions outside the gate because here we are only interested in bettering your children,” he told parents during past meeting at St Angelas Nguthiru Girls School.
The official appealed to parents and guardians to share their grievances with the school administration for amicable solutions instead of tarnishing the reputation of schools.
“All parents will be treated equally despite their positions and social status. Share your concerns in decorum and desist inciting each other,” said Mr Dabasosaru.
