The man who reportedly killed Siaya based Star Newspaper Journalist Eric Oloo in 2019 has been jailed for 35 years.
The late journalist was found dead in the house of a senior police officer Sabina Kerubo who he was living with within Ugunja town and who was later turned into a state witness after investigations exonerated her from the killing.
Siaya High Court judge found Mr James Ogola Luta guilty of the offense saying the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was the one who murdered the journalist.
The suspect had earlier sought court leniency on grounds that he was the breadwinner to his young family but the court maintained that no one was allowed to take away another person’s life and then later ask for forgiveness.
