A 29-year-old man suspected to be behind a series of women raping and killings in Ruiru, Kiambu County had joined a cult where he was promised payment for every woman he killed but ordered to retain their underwear as evidence, investigations reveal.
Mr Paul Magara Morara is suspected to have killed three women and injured several others in the last four months, before getting away with their inner wears.
He reportedly killed a woman he had earlier been seen with at Kiunguu near Ruiru bypass before her body was discovered the following morning with one of her breasts chopped out.
Efforts by the sleuths to trace the perpetrator following a tip off from the public proved futile due to scanty leads obtained from the crime scene.
In January this year, a lady who worked at a hair company was murdered in cold blood hours after she was spotted with Mr Morara before another one murdered the same way was found in her rental house at Wataalam spreading fear and panic.
On September 7, 2021 the suspect broke into a rented room where two sisters aged 18 and 19 years were living and stabbed them with a knife leaving them for dead.
Concerted efforts by officers from different security departments commenced in pursuit of the suspect believed to have had several accomplices within the area.
The criminal would later break into a house at Wataalam area in the wee hours of the morning and attack a 22-year-old lactating mother who was sleeping with her husband.
The young woman was rushed to hospital and is reportedly in a stable condition.
Police arrested Mr Morara with four men believed to be his accomplices while headed to his brother’s house for breakfast.
Seven female panties, a bulb holder and a hammer were recovered from his bag.
Investigations are underway to establish the motive behind the killings.
