The prime suspect in Nairobi’s sexual assault of a woman along Wangari Maathai road whose disturbing video trended on the eve of International Women Day has been arrested.
In the video that was later discovered to have been recorded on March 4 when the incident happened, a group of operators were captured assaulting a female motorist after she hit one of the riders who was crossing the road.
She was seen screaming while at the wheel of her car as the criminals assaulted and partially stripped her.
Detectives pounced on Mr Zachariah Nyaora Obadia within the Kenya-Tanzania border in Isebania as he tried to cross over to the neighbouring country.
The criminal, who is believed to have masterminded the attack on the motorist, had been on the run and last week escaped police dragnet in Mukuru Kaiyaba.
The attack saw President Uhuru Kenyatta announce nationwide crackdown on bodaboda operators aimed at streamlining the sector and weeding out criminals who had infiltrated into the industry but was called off days later following complaints from Kenyans and leaders.
The suspect will be arraigned tomorrow and is likely to face robbery with violence charges.
