Police in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County are holding a 47-year-old man who allegedly beat his wife to death following a domestic tiff.
The suspect, Richard Simiyu Wanjala, is said to have hit the wife with a piece of wood badly injuring her and rendering her unconscious only for her to succumb in a nearby hospital.
The incident happened at their Hilario home in Kiminini. The suspect then went into hiding but was later arrested.
Residents said the couple’s had protracted disputes and that their parents had severally unsuccessfully tried to reconcile them.
Police recovered the wood that the suspect used to hit the wife and a panga that he allegedly threatened to harm residents with.
The motive of the attack is being investigated.
The suspect is being held at Kitale Police Station awaiting arraignment.
