Groups in Isiolo South have not benefited from the government’s Uwezo funds in the past three years due to lack of the fund committee that oversees disbursement.
Youths and women continue to suffer due to the delay by the area MP Abdi Koropu to establish the committee that will ensure they access the affordable loans for business enterprises.
During recent visit in the county, Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh lashed out at the MP and asked him to speed up the process so that residents start benefiting.
“The committee should be up and running immediately because it is so unfair that youths and women have been missing out on the funds,” the CAS said
Ms Shebesh asked groups to seize the opportunities offered by the government to better their livelihoods and increase their income.
She lamented over repayment challenges in the pastoral communities noting that stricter measures will be put in place to ensure repayment is done within the required time.
