At least 1.4 million Kenyans are faced with acute hunger in Kenya and the situation, occasioned by drought being experienced in some parts of the country and the Covid-19 pandemic, could worsen in the coming months.
Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna said the number could increase if there are no enough rains and if immediate interventions are not introduced.
The government, he said, had already introduced the cash transfer program and that Sh2 billion had been disbursed to affected families with over 100, 000 households benefiting with Sh2, 700 on monthly basis for food and upkeep.
