Four years ago, a tailor from Bulapesa ward in Isiolo, set his foot in politics and sought an MCA seat with promise to help alleviate the suffering the electorates were going through.
The little known man would show up in events, homes and offices begging for votes which made many residents sympathise with him.
Local residents claim that Idd Hassan Kimathi would at times request them to vote for him so that he could support his family which they willingly did.
But immediately after winning the seat in 2017, the MCA abandoned his people and went into hiding raising discontent among his electorates who had high hopes in him pushing for improved services and development in the ward.
Besides going missing, residents say Mr Idd has not fulfilled several promises he made to them including improved roads and bursaries to their children and that he is never available to listen to and handle their grievances.
Less than a year to the 2022 general elections, the politician has resurfaced seeking support for his reelection bid amid growing concerns from the public to inject fresh blood into the seat.
Mr Idd now wants the residents to ignore the fact that he has been unavailable and re-elect him promising to make it up to them.
The MCA said residents should spare him like they have been doing to other leaders who he said were going missing for even five years but get voted back.
“If you have been voting back those who go missing for five years, then you can help me out too,” Mr Hassan said during a meeting in Isiolo town.
He said he will soon convene a meeting to inform the residents on the promises he had accomplished and those still unfulfilled.
The politician, who claims he reappeared for the sake of his Ameru community’s unity, urged the Amerus to stay united to propel the community’s aspirants to winning the elective positions.
“If we unite as a community we can comfortably win several elective positions in the county and safeguard the interests of our people,” he said.
