A senior police officer accused of failing to respond to a distress call by the family of the Isiolo bodaboda rider who was killed a week ago over alleged theft has been transferred.

The family earlier accused the Isiolo Police Station OCS of neglect saying had he instantly responded to the alert, their kin could not have been killed.

The Press Point is reliably informed that the senior officer was under probe even before the family and the county leaders raised a concern during a recent security meeting at Isiolo town police mess convened by County Commissioner Herman Shambi.

The OCS is in the process of handing over to another officer.

“The allegations were being investigated even before the meeting. He (OCS) is currently handing over to a new officer,” an officer who did not want to be named told the Press Point.

The OCS has been transferred to another undisclosed station.

Woman Rep Rehema Jaldesa, Senator Fatuma Dullo and MPs Abdi Koropu and Hassan Odha of Isiolo South and North had earlier demanded legal action against the officer.

Mr Odha then said the officer should not be transferred but sacked for representing the government in negative light.

Officers who have served at the station for many years are being transferred to other areas while others deployed to replace them.
