A court in Nairobi has jailed for five years a house help for feeding her employer’s child with mucus and vaginal discharge two months ago.
The 20-year-old convict, Catherine Mukoya Nalianya committed the offence in Fedha Estate, Nairobi.
She had pleaded not guilty to the charges claiming that she had been framed, allegations that the court dismissed as pack of lies.
“I pray for court leniency because I am the sole bread winner of my three-year-old child who could suffer in event I am jailed,” she earlier pleaded with the court.
But the prosecution team called for punitive sentence against her for the beastly act including beating the child whenever he hesitated to feed on the discharges.
Terming it a serious offence, Nairobi Children’s Court Magistrate Festus Terer said Nalianya’s action was inhumane for exposing the innocent baby to untreatable diseases.
The court found her guilty of child abuse saying the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that she abused the rights of the child.
