A Busia man is fighting for his life at the county hospital following a serious beating by irate villagers after he allegedly raped a physically challenged woman in Mundika area.
The suspect, identified as George Ouma, reportedly creeped into the victim’s house at around 6pm after the caregiver had left to the market.
Reports shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) revealed that the victim’s brother was alerted by screams from the house and when he rushed to the scene, found Mr Ouma in the act.
Angry residents who had also gathered to know the cause of the screaming descended on the suspect before police officers came to rescue him.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital as investigation into the matter continues before his arraignment.
