Nine people have been killed and several seriously injured in two three-day banditry attacks incidents in Isiolo with the latest at Quri village near Isiolo/Garissa border claiming seven lives.
Garbatulla Deputy County Commissioner Stephen Nyakundi said the attack was retaliatory following the killing of two Garissa men at Gotu while tracking down some of their stolen camels.
Aware of the planned attack, the Isiolo community engaged in a fierce fire exchange killing five from the neighbouring county while losing two of their own.
Mr Nyakundi said probe had been launched but did not reveal the number of attackers who ambushed the village on Tuesday morning.
“We have deployed officers to the ground to beef up security,” he said.
The two communities have been fighting over pastures at the vast Quri grazing field which rests on the Isiolo side.
