Interior CS Kithure has reorganized the national government administration team in efforts to enhance service delivery.
Half of the county commissioners have been affected by the reshuffle with majority of them moved to new stations and five recalled to the Ministry headquarters in Nairobi.
Among those affected are Joshua Nkanatha (Kiambu), Jacob Ouma (Turkana), Erastus Mbui (Kitui), Henry Wafula (Samburu), Kipchumba Rutto (Busia), Onesmus Kyatha (Nyamira) and Tana River’s Mohamed Nur who have been transferred to Murang’a, Meru, Laikipia, Makueni, Kitui, Samburu and Mombasa respectively.
Others are Muranga county commissioner Patrick Mukuria and his West Pokot, Nairobi and Mombasa counterparts Apollo Okello, Susan Waweru and Abdirisack Jaldesa who have been moved to Kisii, Rift Valley region Commissioner’s office, Siaya and Nyandarua counties respectively.
Mr Hiram Kahiro is the new Kwale county commissioner.
County commissioners recalled back to the headquarters are Mohamed Barre (Nyandarua), Tom Anjere (Kisii), Joseph Kanyiri (Laikipia), Jude Wesonga (Kajiado) and Narok’s Isaac Masinde.
Kajiado North’s Deputy County Commissioner James Taari will replace his boss Jude Wesonga who has been recalled to the Ministry headquarters.
DCCs Mwachaunga Chaunga (Turkana West), David Koskei (Masinga), Reuben Lotiatia (Mt Elgon), Benson Leparmorijo (Central Regional Commissioner’s office) and Mathira East’ David Wanyonyi were named Busia, Tana River, Narok, Kisumu and Nairobi County commissioners.
Others were Mwangi Meru (Kwale), Julius Karita (Kirinyaga Central), John Cheruiyot (Headquarters), Mohamed Ramadhani (Transmara West), Duncan Darusi (Narok West) and Nakuru West’s Khalif Abdullahi who will head county security teams in Kakamega, Turkana, Nyamira, Garissa, Kiambu and West Pokot respectively.
County commissioners who were not affected are David Gitonga (Migori), Amos Mariba (Mandera), John Korir (Elgeyo-Marakwet), Gilbert Kitiyo (Kericho), Louis Rono (Lamu), Thomas Sankei (Bungoma), Tobiko Naiyoma (Kirinyaga), Josephat Biwott (Kilifi), Dr Ahmed Omar (Bomet) and Wajir’ Karuku Ngumo.
Others retained at their work stations are Wesley Koech (Tharaka-Nithi), Pius Murugu (Nyeri), Caroline Nzwili (Nandi), Jack Obuo (Embu), Geoffrey Omoding (Isiolo), Stephen Kutwa (Baringo), Gideon Oyagi (TransNzoia), Nobert Komora (Marsabit), Loyford Kibaara (Nakuru), Felix Watakila (Vihiga), Moses Lilan (Homabay), Dr Eddyson Nyale (Uasin Gishu), Josephine Ouko (Machakos) and Taita Taveta’s Josephine Onunga.
“Regional commissioners will continue serving in their current stations,” CS Kindiki said.
The changes will take effect starting February 1, 2024.
