A woman has stabbed her lover on the chest to death and attempted to commit suicide by piercing herself on the stomach in Chogoria, Maara sub-county in suspected love-gone-sour.
Mukwego Senior Assistant Chief, Mr Bernard Kaburu said the deceased, Mr Martin Kaiga 42, and the accused, Ms Susan Gakii 20 were from a drinking spree when they started fighting at around midnight.
He said according to reports by the neighbours, Ms Gakii demanded that they spend the rest of the night together while the man insisted on leaving.
He said the lady locked the door from inside and when they started fighting as the man struggled to open it, she took and kitchen knife and stabbed him on the left side of the chest sending him down.
Kaburu said when the man was stabbed, he screamed in pain and the neighbours started pleading with Gakii to open the door but instead slashed self on the stomach.
“According to the neighbours, the man demanded to leave immediately they arrived from drinking while the lady insisted that they must spend the night together,” said Mr Kaburu.
Mr John Kimathi, alias Jua Kali, the caretaker of the houses said that few minutes after Gakii stabbed self she fell down next to her lover and that is when they broke the window to gain access in order to help them.
Mr Kimathi said the lady who had only stayed in the house for just a month was cohabiting with the man though he only came at night.
“The two have been drinking ad sleeping together most of the nights though the deceased has some other multiple wives,” said Mr Kimathi.
Mr Ireri Murithi, Gakii’s father said that though her daughter was not formally married to the deceased, he was aware that they were lovers.
“The other day they were fighting at my home and Gakii told me that she was not interested in the man any more,” said Mr Murithi.
