Twelve people among them three illicit brewers have been arrested and more than 1, 000 litres of illicit brew seized during a crackdown conducted by security officers in Isiolo.
More than 1000litres of Busaa, 6995litres of Kangara, used to distil chang’aa and 209 litres of chang’aa estimated to be worth more than Sh300, 000 were destroyed.
Led by Central Assistant County Commissioner Mark Mareba, the team raided brewing sites in Isiolo town and neighboring Bulapesa ward.
Mr Mareba said the exercise that seeks to completely eradicate illegal brewing in the county is ongoing and will end on December 24.
“We want to end the illegal business because it has adversely affected lives of our youths,” said Mr Mareba.

The administrator warned those in the illegal business of stern action saying the government had put in place measures that will ensure they are all held accountable.
“We are determined to arrest and arraign all those involved including a few who established similar businesses recently.
Twenty (20) packets of Contraband cigarettes were also recovered during the raid.

Eight suspects, two distillers and six customers, were arrested and more than 2000litres of chang’aa and Kangara confiscated during last August raid at Nang’atule market.
Mr Mareba called for concerted effort from all stakeholders to eradicate the illegal exercise.
