The main suspect in the murder of popular Meru based blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Snipper will remain in custody awaiting ruling on an application by the police to detain him for 21 days.
Mr Vincent Murithi Kirimi alias Supuu wa Mioro is believed to have had a hand in the ruthless murder of the blogger whose body was found dumped kilometres away from Meru.
He was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s court in Kiambu via a miscellaneous application on Wednesday.
Although the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution sought more days to detain the suspect pending completion of investigations, the court adjourned to January 8, 2023 when the ruling shall be made.
The ODPP also directed the office of the Inspector General of Police to forward a murder inquiry file to his office within seven days.
Mr Muthiani is said to have left home on the evening of December 2 following a phone call he had allegedly received from a person he knew well, according to the wife.
His decomposing body would four days later be discovered along the banks of River Mutonga in Tharaka Nithi County.
Chief government pathologist Johansen Odour who conducted postmortem on the body said it had injuries on the chest, head and that his ribs were broken.
Speaking at Marimanti Level Four Hospital, Mr Oduor noted that the late might have been completely subdued to a level that he couldn’t fight have as there were no signs of struggle.
