Death toll in Sunday’s Nithi bus accident had risen to 34 by Monday morning when rescue operations resumed.
A total of 24 bodies had been retrieved from the wreckage by last evening with the bus driver and conductor among the fatalities.
Seven people were badly injured in the grisly accident and are hospitalized at Chogoria Mission and Chuka County Referral hospitals.
The bus developed brake failure while going down the Nithi slope and hit the guard rails before falling off the bridge in Tharaka Nithi.
Eye witnesses said the vehicle was speeding when the accident occurred.
