Nine people have been killed and four others injured in three suspected banditry attacks within Murulem and Harr moroti area in LMD, Burat ward.

Bandits suspected to have from a neighboring community are said to have laid ambush in the area killing eight men some of whom were in the grazing fields and others going on with their normal activities.

Burat Location chief Abdinassir Abdisalan said one of the victims died while receiving treatment at Isiolo Referral Hospital.

“Those who died were innocent citizens going on with their normal routines while others were killed in the grazing fields,” said Mr Abdisalan.

The locals have since blamed the security operators over delayed response saying lives would have been saved if they responded on time.

“It is unfortunate that innocent people died in attacks that would have been prevented,” said Mr Ibrahim Osman.

Tens of locals have since fled the area for fear of possible attacks.
