Kulamawe residents in Isiolo’s Garbatulla Sub-County are a worried lot following a suspected M-Pox case in the area.
The patient operates a barber shop at a local trading center in Kinna ward and is said to have exhibited signs that are similar to those of MPox.
“We appeal for urgent intervention to confirm the disease and help stem its spread,” noted businessman Guyo Halkano.
This come moments after the Ministry of Health announced the third case of the disease in the country with tens of contacts still under close observation.
Health CS Debra Barasa said out of the 89 samples the government had tested 79 had tested negative, three positive and others were still undergoing analysis at the government laboratory.
Mpox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus, a species of the genus Orthopoxvirus, family Pocviridae and existing in two different clades.
The disease manifest through symptoms similar to those exhibited by a chicken pox patient including rash, fever, body aches among others.
The disease is spread from one person to another through contact with an infected person.
