An official working with Marsabit county government has been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly forging two academic certificates he used to acquire the job.
Mr Halkano Dabaso, Marsabit Central ward administrator, is suspected of having used a fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Diploma in Community Development and Social Work certificates to gain the employment.
EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi revealed that the suspect had been holding the position since 2018.
The suspect who is currently under police custody will be charged with among others forgery, obtaining by pretense, providing false information to a public entity as well as the fraudulent acquisition of public property.
He will be arraigned on Tuesday.
Mr Dabaso risks losing his job, jail term and surrender of all monies earned in the form of salary and allowances should he be found guilty of the offence.
