Five bandits suspected to have come from Samburu County last evening raided Litungai village in Ngaremara ward and walked away with 58 goats.
The goats were under the watch of two boys aged 12 and 10 years-old with the latter going missing after the incident.
Sources intimated to The Press Point that the minor might have lost his way back home.
Security officers have launched a manhunt for the suspects and recovery of the stolen livestock.
The incident come against the backdrop of intensified efforts by Samburu and Isiolo MCAs to woo communities to surrender all stolen livestock to avert a looming security operation in the affected areas.
The ward representatives have in the last one week been conducting community engagement forums in different parts of the two counties to ensure the one-week-window provided for by interior CS Kithure Kindiki bears fruits.
During yesterday’s meeting at Leerata area in Waso ward, Samburu County, the MCAs appealed for an extension of the window noting that the areas they were covering were vast.
“We have not achieved maximally but we have made significant progress. If given seven more days, we can recover the remaining animals,” Waso MCA Kevin Lemantaan said during their joint press briefing.
