Ten (10) candidates have been shortlisted by the National Police Service Commission to fill the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) position that became vacant following last month’s resignation of former immediate top detective George Kinoti.
The seat was declared vacant a week ago (September 29) and applicants given until October 6 to submit their applications.
Interviews and vetting for the 10 will be done on October 11 (Tuesday) at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete in Nairobi.
Among those shortlisted is former Anti-Terrorism Police unit (ATPU) boss Munga Nyale, Internal Affairs Unit boss Amin Mohamed and Kenya Railways Head of Investigations Dr Simon Wanderi.
Others are Director of DCI Reforms Eliud Kipkoech Lagat, Head of Plannning at DCI detective Nicholas Kamwende and Coast region’s DCI Head Bernard Marasa Walumoli.
The list also has Assistant Inspector General of Police Jonyo Michael Wiso, Bomet County Police boss Esther Chepkosgei Seroney, David Kipkosgey Birech and Paul Ndambuki.
The 10 are among the 253 candidates that applied for the country’s top detective job.
Dr Hamisi Massa has been serving in acting capacity from September 30 pending recruitment of new DCI boss.
Among the requirements for the successful candidates are at least 10 years proven experience at management level of a public institution as well as in Criminal Investigations or policing. They must possess a degree from a recognized university.
