A family in Nakuru is yet to come to terms with the death of their 17-year-old Form Three girl who took away her life after she was ordered by her class teacher to cut her hair.
The Langalanga Secondary school student hang herself inside their house at Flamingo Estate in Nakuru Town East Sub-County.
Her body was found dangling on the roof by her younger sister.
Reports indicate the girl had with several others during school closing for one week break on September 16 been ordered to shave their hair by reporting date after she was found undoing her hair at the school.
Reports indicate that the girl had plaited her hair two days before reporting back to school on Monday for new term.
She would be sent back home and ordered to return with a parent on Wednesday and while she obliged, she was irritated with the orders according to the family.
On the fateful day, her foster mother Rosemary Wanjiru, who took her in with her young sister after their mother died, asked her to prepare lunch before proceeding to a nearby barbershop unaware that it was the last moment she was sharing with the daughter.
Revealing that the girl dreamt of becoming a nurse, Ms Wanjiru said she was distraught after she was asked to shave but she encouraged her follow the orders.
Her body was moved to Nakuru Level Five Hospital morgue.
