Police in Kirinyaga and Meru counties are piecing information together to establish circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of a secondary school principal whose body was found in a morgue in Nkubu, Meru.
Mr Sebastian Njiru Gikunju is said to have left his Kirinyaga home Tuesday last week to attend a conference in Meru.
According to the family, he had left in a friend’s car as his was allegedly at the garage and that was the last time they heard from him.
Efforts to look for him bore no fruit as his phone was switched off since Wednesday making the family suspect that he had been abducted by criminals.
Police have since established that the teacher was among passengers who died in a road accident in Meru.
It however remains unclear why the victim opted to use a matatu and at what point did he consider the means following reports by his wife Ann Njiru that he left home in a private vehicle.
