Police in Kirinyaga have arrested three women who allegedly drugged a Catholic nun and robbing her of Sh17, 000 last evening.

The trio, who are detained at Kagio Police Station, were apprehended by bodaboda riders shortly after they committed the crime.

Eye witnesses say the women approached the nun as she was buying some foodstuff at Kagio market and greeted her before spraying her with a chemical that left her unconscious.

They would then drag her into a waiting car and sped off with some of the bodaboda riders who saw the happenings giving them a chase.

The riders rescued the nun and informed police who rushed to the scene and arrested the suspects.

Police sources revealed that the stolen money was also recovered even as residents were urged to avoid speaking to strangers as they could fall prey to criminals.
