Isiolo North MP candidate Mwenda Thuranira (PNU) has pledged to support local soccer teams by facilitating their local and national activities if elected in next week’s polls.
Mr Thuranira who is seeking to dislodge incumbent Hassan Odha said promised to donate a bus to help solve transport challenge for the players.
“I will ensure football teams can comfortably participate in local, regional and national games in line with my quest to nurture and promote talents,” said Mr Thuranira.
He spoke while awarding teams that participated in July’s Mambo Fresh tournament that sought to identify and nurture talents to avert youth indulgence in drug abuse and also preach peace ahead of the August 9 elections.

Quba Football Club and Ngaremara Starlets emerged the winners in the male and female categories respectively taking home Sh50,000 each and trophies.
First and second runners up were awarded Sh30,000 and 20,000 respectively while all the participating teams received Sh10,000 each during last weekend’s finals at Wabera Primary school grounds.
Mr Thuranira accused his opponents of trying to sabotage the exercise from taking place saying they had no interests of the youth at heart.
“Instead politicizing my efforts to support the young people, why don’t they join me in efforts to liberate the youths from the challenges they are facing?” he posed.

Football Kenya Federation Isiolo branch Chairperson Hussein Dima lauded the leader and urged the youth to elect him in the coming polls.
“The youths no longer need handouts but facilitation and support to grow their talents,” said Mr Dima.
The PNU candidate warned the players against being used by politicians to fuel hatred but to preach peace.
