Turkana leaders have protested rising cases of insecurity in the region including the last Sunday night killing of seven people by suspected bandits in Napeitom village in Turkana East.
The victims, including four school going children, are said to have been burnt beyond recognition while they were sleeping at their homes.
Led by Turkana Central MP John Lodepe, the leaders Tuesday stormed the County Commissioner’s office accusing the security team of laxity and failure to prevent the arson attack that occurred about 35 kilometres from the office.
At the office, the group found the doors open but there was no one to address their grievances and they resorted to chanting ‘no peace no election’ while demanding resignation of the interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
Earlier on, Governor Josphat Nanok faulted the security teams over what he said was failure to avert the attack that he claimed was well planned to distract next week’s elections.
The county chief also claimed the attack was a tool by some politicians to mobilize support by whipping the emotions of residents.
