More than 20 senior officers at Mount Kenya University (MKU) and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology are on the spot over alleged irregular acquisition of Sh1.15 billion buildings hosting Turkana University College.
The buildings in Lodwar were previously used by MKU Lodwar campus and were acquired by Masinde Muliro University between January 2016 and July 2019 for establishment of the branch college.
The Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the officers following revelations that officers at Masinde Muliro colluded with other institutions in the irregular transaction and acquisition of the properties.
A court in Eldoret has already allowed EACC to investigate more than 40 bank accounts where the funds are suspected to have been hidden to establish if the owners benefited from the money.
The case will be mentioned on July 27, 2022.
