The mastermind behind Nakuru’s recent cold blood murders has confessed to having killed seven people including three women who were murdered between June 15 and 24 and bodies of two of them set ablaze by the killers.
The suspect, Evans Michori Kebwaro, who was arrested yesterday in Kisii is suspected to be behind the killings that mainly target women and which are committed during the day.
The first incident happened on June 14, 2022 where 20-year-old Grace Wanjiku was killed and her body burnt beyond recognition in her house in Kiamaina, Nakuru North Sub-County.
A week later, Ms Susan Wambui was found dead in the same area after residents managed to put off a huge fire that had engulfed the house at around 4pm.
The recent killing of a 23-year-old Diana Opicho whose lifeless body was found sprawled on the floor caused public outcry with Nakuru residents calling for an action by the government.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i during a visit in the area assured the residents that the State was committed to dealing with the criminal gang that had been terrorizing the locals.
The incidents are believed to have necessitated the transfer of Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri who was replaced by Nairobi’s Kasarani Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo.
The police have also established that Mr Kebwaro, who has in the past served several sentences, would first rape his targets before committing the heinous act.
The suspect also revealed a list of five accomplices all of whom were arrested by detectives on Friday morning.
